By using regionally produced biomass, BHYO Hydrogen Technology does not actively interfere with the environment and can therefore produce CO2-neutral hydrogen.

CO2-Cycle

Biomass is stored solar energy. In nature, when plant-based biomass rots, CO2 is produced. The gas in turn is stored by the forest and converted into oxygen and energy using solar energy. This process is called photosynthesis and forms the basis of all life on our earth. The cycle is closed and thus CO2-neutral

However, over the course of millions of years, carbon compounds can also be converted into crude oil and natural gas under certain conditions. These are carbon potentials that are no longer part of our atmospheric CO2-cycle. If they are used for energy generation, "new" CO2 is fed into our cycle. The CO2-balance is therefore negative.

Through its patented BHYO-Hydrogen Technology, BHYO has developed a process that allows to use carbon potentials that are already part of our atmospheric CO2 cycle to produce clean energy in the form of green hydrogen. By using only biomass that is already part of the existing CO2 cycle, the process is CO2 neutral.

By exploiting innovative technologies, it may even be possible to make the process CO2-negative in the future. Carbon Capture and Storage means the long-term storage of accruing carbon dioxide. Thus, the CO2 balance would be positive.
